HAMKO on the Road, Lepaa

Heippa, täällä kirjottaa opiskelijakunnan hallituksen jäsen Ilona ja kerron nyt vähän HAMKO on the Roadista Lepaalla 23.3. maanantaina.

Lähdin yllättäen Saran kaveriksi ja kuskiksi Lepaan reissulle. Onneksi lähdin, oli nimittäin jännittävä reissu. Matkasimme Lepaan rauhaan autolla, melkein ilman bensaa ja rahaa kera jännityksen. Perillä saatiin ensin nauttia hetki luonnosta ja hiljaisuudesta pellon reunassa joutsenien kesken. Oli oikein virkistävää!

Kampuksella tapasimme joutsenien ja muiden luontokappaleiden lisäksi myös ihan oikeita ihmisiä, toisia opiskelijoita! Meidät otettiin lämpimästi vastaan, saatiin tärkeää palautetta ja käytiin hyviä keskusteluja. Kuultiin, että Lepaalla järkätään opiskelijoiden voimin kirppistä, siellä otetaan ihan oikeat luokkakuvat ja huhtikuussa on tulossa Simaviikko!! Kuulosti kivalta meiningiltä. 

Koimme kuitenkin Lepaalla myös pelon hetkiä!! Luulimme tosiaan koko alkumatkan, että olemme rahattomina, ilman lompakoita liikenteessä. Olimme kauhuissamme, kun ajattelimme, ettemme saa maistella Lepaan herkkuruokia ja nälkäkin kurni jo vatsassa. No, sitten yllättäen muistin, että piilotin lompakkoni omaan reppuuni edellispäivänä. Sieltähän se löytyi salataskusta ja rahat riittivät juuri kahteen täydelliseen annokseen! Onni siis onnettomuudessa ja kyllä todellakin nautittiin kermaperunoista, lohesta ja ihanan salaattipöydän antimista! 

Meille esiteltiin myös Kiska, joka oli aivan kuin pieni matkamuistomyymälä. Oikein ihana Kiska, josta saimme loistavaa palvelua! Lopuksi nautittiin vielä hetki rauhasta ulkona ja sitten palattiin kaupungin meteliin.

Kiitti Lepaa, tullaan mielellään taas uudestaan!

Hello, here is Ilona writing. I’m member of the HAMKO’s Board and now I will tell you a little bit about HAMKO on the Road in Lepaa. 

I went surprisingly to Lepaa with board member Sara and I had to drive there (scary!). Luckily I went because the trip was very exciting. We were on the way to Lepaa’s peaceful surroundings almost without gas and money, but finally we arrived to the campus area. First we enjoyed the nature and silence for a moment at the edge of the field. We also saw swans in the field and that was really beautiful.

In the campus we met also real people, other students! They warmly welcomed us, and we got important feedback from them and got to discuss good conversations. We heard that they’ve took real class photographs in the campus, that the students are organizing some flea market in the next week and that they will have this Simaviikko (Mead week) in April. My opinion is that there is really nice spirit in Lepaa.

At the beginning of the trip we were afraid that we don’t have money for food. We were terrified that we don’t get Lepaa’s special and awesome food and we were really hungry. Luckily I remembered that I had hidden my wallet yesterday in my bag. So we found just enough money for two perfect meals and were really happy!

After the trip we enjoyed for the peace of Lepaa a second time and then we left back to noisy Hämeenlinna.

HAMKO on the Road, Mustiala

Hiljainen torstai. Kävimme Gramin kanssa seikkailemassa Mustialan kauniissa maisemissa torstaina 19.3. Kampuksella oli todella hiljaista, joten HAMKO on the Road oli enemmänkin kaksinkeskeistä hengailua ruokalan aulassa. Kuulimme huhua, että keskiviikkona oli vietetty iltamia, joka ehkä oli syynä vähäiseen opiskelijoiden läsnäoloon. 

Emme kuitenkaan joutuneet lähtemään kotiin tyhjin käsin, vaan saimme parit hyvät palautteet ja jopa yhden lappusen palautepuuhumme. :) Oli kuitenkin huippua käydä seikkailemassa Mustialassa ja ensi kerralla varmistetaan, että kampuksella pyörii muitakin kuin HAMIn opiskelijoita.

It was a quiet Thursday. Me and Grami were on an adventure in Mustiala on the 19th of March. The campus was like a graveyard. No one in sight. So it was mostly just us hanging out. We heard that there had been a party on Wednesday and that might have been the cause why there were no students around.

Even though there was no one to be seen we got a few good feedbacks and a post-it on our feedback tree. :) At the end it was a good trip and the next time we are going to Mustiala we will make sure that the students are in school that day.

HAMKO on the Road Visamäessä / HAMKO on the Road in Visamäki

Elikkäs, oltiin Ilona Härön (opiskelijapalautejärjestelmä, opiskelijoiden toimeentulo, opiskelijaedustajien kontaktointi) kanssa Visamäen kampuksella pitämässä HOTRi-ständiä.

Teemana tällä kertaa oli palaute ja puhuimme myös eduskuntavaaleista.

Pyysimme HAMKin opiskelijoita täyttämään Laadukas ja aktiivinen opiskelija -kyselyn ajankohtaisista aiheista ja opiskelijoiden yleisestä hyvinvoinnista. Lisämotivaationa arvomme Loppurysäyslippuja vastanneiden kesken!

HOTRien teemaa kunnioittaen meillä oli palautepuu <3, johon sai kirjoittaa vapaata palautetta HAMKista, kehitysehdotuksia, risuja, ruusuja, yleisiä fiiliksiä, sekä kysymyksiä eduskuntavaalipanelisteille.

Käytiin hyviä keskusteluita opiskelijoiden kanssa, ja saatiin ihan mukavasti palautetta, ehdotuksia ja kysymyksiä. Kiitoksena näistä jaoimme porkkana-haalarimerkkejä :D

Kampuksella sattui olemaan myös Lyseon lukiolaisia, joista osa jopa antoi palautetta. Muun muassa Visamäen ruokaa kehuttiin <3

Päivä päättyi innostuneeseen eduskuntavaalikeskusteluun erään opettajan kanssa, ja juttua olisi riittänyt iltaan asti.

Vielä loppuun yhteenvetona: enemmän myönteistä palautetta kuin huonoa, erityistä aktiivisuutta osoittivat vaihtarit ja Ilonan kanssa oli kiva ja hyvä meininki ;D ! Kiitokset Visamäki <3 !

So I was at Visamäki campus having a HOTR stand with Ilona Härö (Student feedback system, student subsistence, contacting the student representatives).

This time our theme was feedback and we also talked about the parliamentary elections.
We asked students of HAMK to answer the survey (“Laadukas ja aktiivinen opiskelija”) about hot topics right now and student wellbeing in general. As extra motivation we’re raffling Loppurysäys tickets between repliers.

Respecting the theme of HOTR we had this feedback tree <3 where people could write free feedback about HAMK, development proposals, negative things, positive things, general feelings about HAMK and questions to parliamentary election panelists.

We had some great conversations with our students and we also were given good amount of feedback, proposals and questions. Showing our appreciation towards the feedback givers we gave some carrot overall badges :D

By coincidence there were some high school students from Lyseo. Some of them even gave us feedback. For example they said that Visamäki had great food <3

The day ended to this enthusiastic conversation about parliamentary elections with one of our teachers. The conversation could have continued till night.

As final overview: there was more positive feedback than negative. The exchange students were especially showing interest AND I had a great time and good groove with Ilona ;D ! Thanks Visamäki <3 !

HAMKO keräsi palautetta Lahdensivulla / HAMKO collected feedback in Lahdensivu campus

Keskiviikkona 18.3 HAMKO oli HOTReilemassa Lahdensivun kampuksella. Hallituksen puheenjohtaja Emma ja varapuheenjohtaja Lauri keräilivät Hamksterin johdolla palautetta hyvinvointiosaajilta. Palaute oli runsasta ja palautteenantajille kiitokseksi annetut palauteporkkana-haalarimerkit olivat hitti ja loppuivat kesken. Jotkut jopa innostuivat antamaan useammankin palautteen, ja palautetta kertyikin huimat kaksi sivua :)

9.4. järjestettävästä Loppurysäyksestä on ilmeisesti tulossa kunnon pippalot, sillä ennakkoliput menivät kuin kuumille kiville. Ennakkoliput eli haalarimerkit ovat toistaiseksi loppuunmyydyt Lahdensivulla sekä Visamäessä. Ennakkolippuja saattaa tulla lisää myöhemmin lähempänä tapahtumaa, joten jos et ole vielä hankkinut lippua niin nyt kannattaa olla hereillä! Lipunmyynti Upin ovella alkaa tapahtumapäivänä 9.4. klo 23.

On Wednesday 18th of March HAMKO had HAMKO on the Road tour’s first stop in Lahdensivu. HAMKO’s president Emma and vice president Lauri collected feedback with Hamkster’s leadership from future wellbeing professionals of HAMK. There were plenty of feedback as Emma and Lauri ran out of the thank-you badges for the feedback givers. Some even got so excited that they gave several different feedbacks. We got two pages of feedback :)

Obviously Loppurysäys (9th of April) will be a huge hit. Loppurysäys advance tickets (overall patches) went fast and now they are sold out both in Lahdensivu and Visamäki for the moment. There might come more advance tickets for sale closer to the event. So if you have not yet bought your ticket, keep your ears and eyes open! Ticket sale on the event day 9.4. will start at nightclub Up’s door at 23 o’clock.

Get Together Day for Exchange Students – Spring 2015

This year the spring Get Together day was on 3rd of March. 

The day for me started early and stressed, every possible thing that could go wrong was going through my mind, “What if they never catch the bus”; “What if the Riihimäki exchange students won’t come”, but I didn’t dare showing my stress so I tried to keep it cool. I headed to school to the event venue and made sure that at least everything was ready for the people who would show. While I was doing that I got a message from one of the Riihimäki exchange students that said that their train was late, but at the same time the Valkeakoski exchange students arrived and they were a big group so I started getting excited. The exchange students started the program by picking some small morning snack and some coffee or tea, giving them the possibility to get to know each other and to get to know me, the person who sent them a thousand emails.

As we headed to the event venue it was my presentation of HAMKO which was going to start the event and that went as normal and boring as it could go, so once it was done we had a bit time left before the other presentation so some of my “smooth jokes” started to crack up. After that we had the presentation of Susanna Saarinen, the person responsible for the international affairs of HAMK and during the presentation the person with the highlight presentation of the day was there, Brian Joyce. Once Susanna was done, Brian took over and started showing why he was highly recommended to me as a great presenter. The words can’t sum up the amount of excitement he gave the students. He made them try Salmiakki, talked about the culture and how to use your exchange studies on your benefit and also gave the students opportunity to create network with him. 

As the first half of the day was over, we were heading now to the exciting events, our visit at Häme Castle and the Bowling alley. 

Our tour guide at the Häme Castle was awesome, very detailed and full of interesting facts, so it kept most of the people interested. The tour lasted 45 min and then we had about 30 min of enjoying the Castle by ourselves. 

The last part of the day was approaching as we were heading to the bowling alley. The teams were divided randomly and the fun started. We played for quite a long time and did a lot of networking. The end arrived pretty soon and everyone hit the road home, except that I still had my Council of representatives of HAMKO meeting. But I really didn't care much, I was happy about the outcome of the day.
